Finally, a skin care routine tailored for me. I have been using the new Idealia skincare by Vichy line for a week now, and it’s too amazing not to share. Sometimes I feel ridiculous using age defying products, maybe it’s because I am blessed with healthy skin, or maybe because I am in denial of my age (33 isn’t old, is it?). Regardless, I don’t want to use old lady cream just yet. I appreciate that most lines have a “protect skin now, enjoy it later” attitude, but it makes me feel old to think that wrinkles are in my not-so-distant future.
This time of the year calls for the “Dryfecta”. It’s a brutal combination of the cold weather, the dry air from indoor heating and if you’re fortunate enough, post-vacation suntanned skin. That’s what I have right now. I just came back from my trip to Hawaii and I am in dire need of Vichy’s moisture cocoon routine to nurture and hydrate my dry skin back to good vibrant health. With a combination of drinking loads of water (using a fun bottle of course!), blasting a humidifier in every room, and hitting “loop” on my Vichy routine… I think I got this!
Beat dry skin this winter- try my Vichy moisture cocoon routine!
This Vichy Hand & Nail Cream ( approximately $10 for 40ml) is everything your skin desires and more. Although the skin on my hands has been exfoliated to death by the sand, my hands have never been so soft, but my scaly skin is starting to show and I need all the moisture I can get to preserve the softness. This cream is doing just that for me. It’s a great size for my purse and it also has that lovely clean Vichy scent!
I feel like a queen when I use this rich Vichy Spa Shower Gel-Cream (approximately $17 for 200ml). My husband once smelled my shoulder and was like “yum, what is that smell?”… now that’s a compliment I will never forget! He never does that sort of thing. I brought this on my trip and used it sparingly… I love it so much and I don’t want it to finish 🙁
I have been slathering this Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet all over my body after my shower, especially after I shave my legs. It’s so decadent and smells amazing! It also has this lovely shine to it, like micro sparkles! Nothing makes my tanned legs look better. Now, if I can only find a place to show them off in the winter… the gym it is then :S
Makeup remover is a personal thing. Some like it milky, some like it creamy, some like it oily, some don’t clean their makeup off before going to bed…you catch my drift. Disclaimer: I am guilty of the latter from time to time. I know, it’s gross, but I’m lazy.
This beauty review is all about the best makeup removers that are light with a water-like solution. These are my favourite solutions because they are gentle on my skin, very effective, not messy and super easy to use. Bioderma Hydrabio H20, Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Make-up Remover and Vichy Purete Thermal cleansing micellar solution are all amazing makeup removers and offer a unique approach to washing your makeup off! I hope this review will help you find one that works for you. And if buying a new makeup remover encourages you to remove your makeup before going to bed, well good on you sista! Look at you knocking down those 2017 New Years resolutions!
PRO TIP- I always, always dampen my cotton wipe with water before adding the makeup remover to it. It makes you use less product and helps to wash the makeup off by wetting it! I also use eye-makeup remover to clean my entire face, not just my eyes.
Bioderma Hydrabio H20 Moisturising make-up removing micelle solution (around $27 for 500ml)
My mom, my fashion and beauty mentor, gave me this bottle for Christmas in my stocking. She heard through the grapevine that it was ranked one the best makeup removers. It has won lots of awards and is well-known in the beauty world. I have to admit, I am falling for it, quite hard. It’s so gentle, smells light and fresh, and very effective at cleaning off makeup, eye-liner and mascara. The formula is so gentle you could bring it on vacation or camping and get away with not rinsing it off. This micelle solution comes in different formulas, suited for different skin types. The best part, it’s very affordable.
Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Make-up Remover (around $10 for 162ml)
This is my personal go-to. I have been using Neutrogena for over 8 years now. I also buy the face wipes, which I use when I have a full-face of makeup. The solution is gentle, cleanses very well and has a nice light smell. It says oil-free, but it still leaves an oil-like finish. The finish is surprisingly very moisturizing and doesn’t leave your skin dry. If you look closely, you will notice 2 layers in the solution which you have to shake before using. I usually stock up on this when I find it on sale for $7.99!
Vichy Purete Thermal cleansing micellar solution (around $20 for 200ml)
I received this Vichy Purete Thermal cleansing solution to review, which actually inspired this post. I love that this is a 3-in-1 product which not only removes makeup, but cleanses and tones the skin at the same time. This is great for travel because it minimizes the number of bottles you need to pack in your beauty kit. This solution creates a bit more foam than the other two. For this reason, I do find you need to rinse it off. It has a signature Vichy scent, which I love, but can be strong for those who prefer non-scented solutions.
I received Biotherm Blue Therapy cream-in-oil face moisturizer a few months ago and have been using it sporadically, between the other products that I am testing. I need time to play with products before I can really review them. I know you would expect nothing less from this biochemistry student!
First, I didn’t realize that this was such a luxurious creme, only because I assumed I wasn’t fancy enough to receive it for free! Lesson learned – stop assuming! It retails at $79.
By the way, this is the first time I ever used a Biotherm product. The cream-in-oil is quite a unique texture, almost gel-like with an oily but not greasy finish, if that makes any sense. It’s very moisturizing, without being too heavy either. The creme packs a big punch. You don’t need very much product, so it should last you a while. Maybe not so much during the winter months, where your face feels like it’s about to fall off after the shower. Is that just me? …Or?
I love a mild scent in my face cream, and this one is quite fragrant, so I would not recommend it if you like scent-free products. I personally love it, though.
I have to admit that my skin drinks this cream because the weather is cold lately, so I have been layering it with serum. I would recommend it for spring/summer use, if you are anything like me. All in all, a great product that hydrates my skin and leaves is looking silky smooth.
