Shop with Chantsy: Plus Size Personal Styling Feild Trip on November 10, 2016

Do you live in Ottawa and shop in plus-size stores? Are you in need of a fresh perspective for your style? Do you find yourself lost in the stores or better yet, have no idea where to buy fun clothes that actually fit? Have you thought of hiring a personal stylist, but are skeptical of the investment, or are not willing to pay the full rate?

How would you do in a cozy group setting, where girls like you can shop and get styling advice from a personal stylist?

If you’ve answered yes to one of these questions, it sounds like Shop with Chantsy is perfect for you!

Shop with Chantsy is my first of many personal styling field trips, where I will take a group of 4-5 women, for 3 hours and personally help them shop ’til they drop.

Tickets are $75 each. My rate for personal styling is $100 an hour, so consider this group rate a steal!

My first tour will be for plus-size women. On November 10, 2016, join me and fellow fashionistas for this fun shopping trip! We will be headed to Trainyards Ottawa, to shop their perfect selection of plus and inbetweenie shops including Addition Elle, Reitmans and Marshalls.

Space is limited, so don’t delay! Tickets sales have already begun 🙂

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at info@modeXLusive.com.

Metamorphosis: Ottawa Fashion Show & Marketplace for the ecoconscious

What are you doing on October 26? Nothing? Perfect! Join me at Metamorphosis Eco-Fashion Show for your dose of daily Ottawa Fashion and guilt-free shopping!

About Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis Eco Fashion Show and Marketplace is an event that showcases and supports environmentally-minded emerging fashion designers in the Ottawa area. Hosted by EcoEquitable, Metamorphosis is Ottawa’s newest Fashion Show to enter the social, artitist and ecoconscious scene. It’s a chance to showcase local Ottawa talent and slowly put to rest the practices behind fast-fashion, hopefully for more than just one night.

Founded in 2002, EcoEquitable Inc. is a registered social Canadian enterprise, providing temporary employment and skills development training through small-scale textile recycling.

I am 100% guilty of indulging in non-ecoconscious clothing. I am sure you can agree that finding larger sizes is hard enough, let alone adding another layer of “where/how is this made?” But the interesting fact is, when clothes are hand-made by a local person, it can often be made to measure. It may cost a little more, but it will look amazing (and you will feel amazing knowing you made a difference!) I urge you to get out of your comfort zone and come explore the event with me.

Supporting this event will directly impact the local businesses in your community and leave a small but mighty footprint in the movement towards a safer and cleaner fashion industry. We can’t make a change happen overnight, but we can all start somewhere.

Support the cause

If you have nothing to wear and want to glam it up for the event, Rent Frock Repeat will be donating 10% of all rental sales to EcoEquitable. Make sure you use code “ECO16” to track all donations.

Shop local

I’ll be getting dolled up with my friend Malorie who just launched her Canadian sustainable fashion e-store, Either Or. She will be at the event and will showcase her collection in person! I can’t wait to show you what we put together!

Win tickets to the event

I have 2 tickets with your name on it! Leave a comment below telling me a little bit about your interest, scepticism or feedback around what you would like to see in ecofashion or the Ottawa fashion industry. I will select the winner at random on October 21, 2016.

If you want to learn more about sustainable fashion and how you can start today, you may want to read more on building a capsule wardrobe.

#WhenInAndaz: New Ottawa Hotel in Byward Market puts the spotlight on the capital

Ottawan’s have been anticipating the opening of Andaz Hotel for quite some time, and finally we can all rest, because it’s open… and you’re going to love it!

I was invited to the grand opening party a few weeks ago, and had the opportunity to savour and soak in all the Ottawa details nestled in this new boutique hotel located in the heart of the Byward Market. Between the gastro dining experience at Feast + Revel and Copper Spirits and Sights, the famous rooftop patio and trendy cocktail lounge, Andaz is no hospitality rookie and knows how to welcome it’s guests.

The evening was filled with experiential entertainment, like the yummy gummy Squish candy bar, hummingbird chocolate and wine tasting and, my favourite, the pickle smorgasbord at the Walter’s dress-your-own caesar bar. On a side note, the Andaz caesar is getting quite the reputation for it’s ketchup chips and seaweed rimer, which I am a huge fan of! We can thank Executive Chef, Stephen La Salle for all his magical creations!

This past weekend, I was lucky to celebrate my birthday and organized a dinner with friends at F+R. We then headed to the rooftop patio for some cocktails, got cozy in a booth and stayed warm by the fire pit. This was exactly how I wanted to spend my birthday. The weather was perfection and the company was even better! On a surprise note, I was even crowned with a gorgeous tiara from Ottawa Royal Style by Maria Al-Masani herself! I mean… that’s quite the birthday gift!

A few things you may not know about Andaz Ottawa

  1. The first rooftop patio bar in a hotel in Ottawa that is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!! Game changer here folks!
  2. The rooftop gives you an awesome view of the city
  3. The hotel only uses soap from Ottawa’s favourite natural product line company, Purple Urchin (p.s. I adore their soap bars!)
  4. Andaz is a boutique chain owned by the Hyatt
  5. Andaz Ottawa has 200 gorgeous guest rooms (although I have yet to see a room with my own eyes, but I hear they are spectacular)
  6. Andaz Ottawa has 4500 square feet of meeting and event space!

Ottawa views for days ?? thanks to @andazottawa What a gorgeous hotel. Can’t wait to loiter here ????? #wheninAndaz

What to wear to the affair: Paradise City Boobyball Ottawa 2016

Come celebrate the 15th annual Boobyball fundraiser, hosted by Rethink Breast Cancer. This year’s theme is Paradise City! Think lemurs, tigers and flamingos… oh my!

Rethink breast cancer is the first ever Canadian charity to bring bold, relevant awareness to the 40s and under crowd; foster a new generation of young and influential breast cancer supporters; infuse sass and style into the cause; and, most importantly, respond to the unique needs of young women going through it.

Last year, I attended the first Boobyball event in Ottawa, and had a blast! This year, I was asked to support this amazing cause, and of course, I had a hard time saying no! How could I? So much effort goes into the theme, the fashion and the experience. If you’re already convinced, the you can simply…

Event details

Here are the deets- the event this year will be held at Lago on October 28th.

DATE: October 28, 2016
TIME: 8:00PM – 1:00AM
LOCATION: Lago Bar & Grill
Dows Lake Pavilion
1001 Queen Elizabeth Driveway

What to wear to the affair?

I know this is what makes or breaks the ticket purchase. “I have nothing to wear, so I am not going!” she says. Wrong! Let me help you with that.

I found some pretty awesome inspirational pieces from l’Intervalle, HM and Zara. All which can now be found at CF Rideau Centre! One stop shop my friends, one stop shop.

I never like to reveal what I will be wearing, but as you know, I like to inspire. Maybe you already have a few key pieces you can put together at home? There is no need to spend big money, leave that money to the cause.

The pieces I chose are bright, colourful, floral, busy and loaded with pattern and some animal print of course. Have fun with your designer costume and remember to bring your A-Game!
