Laugh, run & jump for joy with Icon pee-proof underwear!

Disclaimer- This is a post for mature people who deal with real health issues. There is no room for bullies or judgemental idiots. K, thanks!

If you follow me regularly, you know that I suffer from endometriosis and that I blog about it openly. Too many women suffer from this disease in silence, and somehow no one knows anything about it. I swear to you, every time I write something about endometriosis, I get 2 private messages from women sharing a similar challenge with their journey to health. If you are a lucky woman who doesn’t suffer from it, the least you can do is educate yourself on the topic. But the truth is, there is no such thing as a lucky woman, I know we all have our battles, whether it be mental health, infertility… the list goes on. No matter what, I wouldn’t change anything in the world, I love being a woman! I truly believe that we are put in a particular place in life, to make a change in the world and do something with our passion. Maybe I was given endometriosis, to be the voice of this disease and shake things up a bit in our healthcare system (we’ll see!).

So here’s an update. I’ve been trying hard to control my cramps with diet, but still have good and bad days. Or I should say, I’m getting used to constantly feeling like crap. Even though the Endo diet only seems to be a regime meant for unicorns, it’s interesting to see how I feel after eating heavy carbs like bread. I am still testing it out, and doing what feels good. It’s hard to limit what you eat when you love food! haha

Other than managing pain, navigating through infertility and building up anxiety for my upcoming surgery next year, I also have the privilege of dealing with… incontinence! Yes, I pee myself a little when my bladder is too full. The cysts are getting so big and now constantly pushing down on my bladder. I feel like a 2-year-old in potty training. I’m constantly going to the washroom, to avoid any accidents. “Victor, do you have to pee?… Chantal, do you have to pee?”.

The brighter side? After doing some extensive research, I found a bad-ass underwear brand that looks after women like me! Icon pee-proof underwear sent me a pair of leak-proof undies after I pleaded my case. I wore them all day yesterday, and I loved them! These gorgeously designed underwear would also be perfect for new postpartum moms or any mom who wants to nail her jumping jacks at the gym ? You always need backup, am-I-right?

Icon underwear

I selected the high-waisted grey undies in size L. They promise to absorb up to 5-6 tsp. of liquid. I did not have any accidents, because I know what I need to do now to stay dry. DON’T HOLD YOUR PEE IN!!
The underwear come in size xs to xxxl! They also come in bikini and thong.

Review

The black padded insert is a little stiff when you put the underwear on, but you get used to it. Certainly if you are used to wearing pads, this should be a no-brainer. The fabric of the underwear are super soft and the high-waist gives comfortable tummy control. I did not have any wedgy issues, which for me is life!! I love the sleek design of these bad boys, and would love to try on the bikini style next.

Icon’s mission is to help women on an international scale with common issues they face like Fistula. Through the Fistula Foundation, every pair of Icon sold helps fund life-changing surgeries for women in developing countries.

Icon is also the same company behind Thinx, the period-proof underwear that protects you from leaks and keeps you feeling dry. Now this I have to try!

If you want to try out a pair or buy a whole bunch, make sure you check out their bulk discounts! They also have a referral program where you save $10 off after sharing the love 🙂

I know it’s not an easy topic to talk about, and I know I’m not the only one with this problem. I just hope I can help normalize the conversation for other women who suffer from incontinence.

  1. Chantal, I absolutely love your blog. I have so much respect for you for speaking up about something that some are embarrassed or criticized for talking openly about. I’m sure you just boosted tons of women’s confidence, and I applaud you for that!!! It’s so important to break the stigmas around ‘touchy’ subjects, when we can.

So cool that these are from the same people behind Thinx! Been wanting to try those out for so long now. You may have just convinced me!
