I found Erin Coleman of Capital City Curves on Instagram looking for fellow curvy babes in Ottawa. I liked her style, so I asked her a few questions.

What’s your passion for fashion?
To me fashion is wearable art. It should evoke interest and wonder in the people that view it. It should tell a story about who you are and what goes on inside your head. That being said, I don’t have just one style. It’s constantly changing just as I am as an individual. Sometimes vintage and quirky; sometimes modern and simple. If it catches my interest, I’ll give it a try. I also like to mix vintage pieces with modern outfits. It creates interest and usually starts a story with strangers.

What XLusive tip can you share?
Try it on! Don’t feed into the idea that “certain styles” are only for “certain body types”. We are in an era of body positivity! (FINALY). It’s time to break all the fashion rules. Wear horizontal stripes and loose or tight fitting pieces! Experiment. If you love it, try it, and don’t get discourage if the first one you try doesn’t work, keep trying things on!

This Glamorous Romper

img_0868

I’m so excited to finally wear my Glamorous romper! I purchased it at Vien Avec Moi, on Wellington West. It’s a warm sunny day today but just enough of a cool breeze to pull off small leather booties too (these ones are my 2 year old Nine West boots… Lots of wear on these bad boys) . I paired it with my new Wilfred Free black leather tassel bag from Aritzia, and Quay sunnies. I love the contrast between the dark warm leather and the light and airy Paisley romper. Very edgy.

Oh yes, you may have noticed that I chopped my hair off! I’m trying to go back to my natural dark blond hair. I have a few tiny highlights in the front and had a light pink toner put in all over. It’s a really soft look, and the color really comes out against the brick wall. I was told it will wash out after three or four washes. It’s an all-around pretty edgy look for me, something I’m still getting used to. But can we talk about my lipstick though? Vermillion Red liquid paint wash from Laura Mercier. It’s my third shade from the series! I just love it!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday weekend, I know I will!
