This year MAC Cosmetics collaborated with a number of well-known makeup artists and featured a new line of makeup products under each artist. I was privileged to receive a number of new MAC products to review by James Kaliardos’s and the Kabuki Magic collection.

World-renowned makeup artist James Kaliardos brings a unique combination of glamour and chic minimalism to the realm of fashion photography. He has collaborated with photographers Annie Leibovitz, Steven Klein, David Sims, Steven Meisel, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Peter Lindbergh, Mario Testino, Paolo Roversi, Richard Burbridge, and the late Richard Avedon, Irving Penn and Helmut Newton. His work can be seen in American, British and Italian VogueAllureW and V Magazine. He has created looks for campaigns and runway shows for Balenciaga, Chanel, Hermès, Fendi, Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent, Rodarte, Dior, Y-3, Rochas, Lanvin, Mugler, DVF, Lacoste and Anna Sui, as well as campaigns for L’Oréal, Revlon, Shiseido, Cover Girl and Victoria’s Secret. In 2003, he became the consultant for L’Oréal Paris, the first makeup artist to hold this position in the company. Some of the celebrities Kaliardos has worked with include: Madonna, Julianne Moore, Beyonce, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Connelly, Tyra Banks, Drew Barrymore, Sarah Jessica Parker, Björk and Chloë Sevigny. The goal of this collaboration was to create colour collections reflecting each artist’s signature style. Here’s my look using most of the products I received. I hope I made these artists proud! Keep scrolling down to see all the products I received and more makeup pics.

LIP SCRUBTIOUS (Summer berry $19)
Although these lip scrubs are not from the collection, I did use it before doing my makeup. I love the sweet taste it leaves on your lips, maybe it has something to do with the gentle exfoliant it contains (sugar!). Soft lips are a must during these cold and dry days.

RETRO MATTE LIQUID LIPCOLOUR / KABUKI MAGIC
 (Sweet thing $25)

If you’re a fan of Stila’s Baci, you are going to love this high-pigmented retro matte liquid lippie. It lasts all day and has a very thin consistency, so the formula won’t clump up on your lips. I also love how the brush has a dip in it, which loads up on the product, and the point which helps line the lip.

JUMBO PENULTIMATE EYE LINER / JAMES KALIARDOS ($24)

Now this jumbo felt-tip liquid eyeliner pen is definitely for the pros and takes some getting used to. But if you love a thick line, this one is highly recommended! I used this liner for my look and struggled a bit to keep it thin. It does glide on really nicely though.

LIPSTICK / JAMES KALIARDOS (Coral Bliss $21)

What a pretty coral tone. I love this lip colour on its own, or paired with a gloss. This lipstick is highly pigment and creamy as ever. I wore it for my makeup look.

TRICOLOUR LIPGLASS / JAMES KALIARDOS (Stratagloss Opalite $24)

This three-coloured lip gloss made my dreams come true! It has a gorgeous opal iridescence to it and a pretty micro-sparkle. I wore this over the coral lipstick in my makeup pics for that extra shine! Just like all the classic MAC glosses, this one has long wear.

INTO THE WELL EYE SHADOW / JAMES KALIARDOS (Matte Galena $21)

Technology meets makeup in this high-pigment shadow and liner duo. The well in the middle is designed to hold water droplets to help create a solution for liquid liner. For my look, I used this as dry shadow only in the crease.

CRYSTAL GLAZE GLOSS / KABUKI MAGIC (Ice Follies $24)

Excuse me while I paint my face with this gorgeous gloss. Use it as a lipgloss or have fun with it as a highlighter for an edgy editorial or runway look. It also smells like sweet vanilla heaven.
