Loafers and Polish Collab for #BacktoSchool with Plato’s Closet Barrhaven

A few weeks ago, Barrhaven Blog posted the “Back to School Fashion Tips” article that I was featured in. I won this photo shoot on Loafers and Polish, where Jenn, the editor, styled 3 outfits for me and my good friend Karine at Plato’s Closet in Barrhaven.
My Facebook feed today was loaded with First Day of School pics, so I thought it would be appropriate to share the rest of the awesome photos that Kristy, of Kristy Chapman Photography, took that day!

I used to love getting my first day of school outfit ready. One that I remember particularly well, was my grade 8 Clueless inspired short plaid kilt with lace up boots! I must dig up a photo… (to be continued…)

By the way, I haven’t had my makeup done in over 10 years, since I am also a makeup artist and usually do my own work for shoots. I had the pleasure this time of sitting back in the chair and letting Toni Rose take the lead!

Look 1- Sporty & Feminine

Look 2- Edgy Cool

Look 3- Effortlessly Chic

Style Profile: Erin Coleman of Capital City Curves

mode-xlusive-style-profile-plus-size-fashion-blog-ottawa-chantal-sarkisian-chantsy-capital-city-curves-erin-coleman

I found Erin Coleman of Capital City Curves on Instagram looking for fellow curvy babes in Ottawa. I liked her style, so I asked her a few questions.

What’s your passion for fashion?
To me fashion is wearable art. It should evoke interest and wonder in the people that view it. It should tell a story about who you are and what goes on inside your head. That being said, I don’t have just one style. It’s constantly changing just as I am as an individual. Sometimes vintage and quirky; sometimes modern and simple. If it catches my interest, I’ll give it a try. I also like to mix vintage pieces with modern outfits. It creates interest and usually starts a story with strangers.

What XLusive tip can you share?
Try it on! Don’t feed into the idea that “certain styles” are only for “certain body types”. We are in an era of body positivity! (FINALY). It’s time to break all the fashion rules. Wear horizontal stripes and loose or tight fitting pieces! Experiment. If you love it, try it, and don’t get discourage if the first one you try doesn’t work, keep trying things on!

Style Profile: Kay of Country meet City

Kay Country Meets City Mode XLusive Style Profile Ottaw curvy Fashion plus size blogger chantsy chantal SarkisianThis is Kay of Country Meet City. I like her style, so I ask her a few questions.

What’s your passion for fashion? I have loved fashion ever since I was really young. My mom was always really into fashion herself and loved dressing me up. I definitely credit a lot of my fashion sense and creativity to my mom and those early years.

What XLusive tip can you share? Have fun with fashion and try new styles/trends and go outside your comfort zone. You never know if something is going to look good on you unless you try it out. I love shopping at Winners, Zara, Gap, Old Navy and The Bay. Some local (Ottawa) shops I love to hit are Milk Shop, HepKat Vintage and Roadtrip. When I’m getting dressed I try to dress for my body shape (hourglass). When picking clothes I try to accent my assets. For dresses I like the fit and flare look or wrap dresses. A defined waistline goes a long way!

In this pic Kay wears:
– Blazer (Forever 21)
– Peplum Top (Simons)
– Trousers (Smart Set)
– Heels (Old Navy)
– Bow (ALDO Accessories)
