You all know that I am an advocate for women’s empowerment, whether it’s physical health, mental health or entrepreneurship. My passion is to help and support women, in all facets of their lives. This is why I am so happy to share in this incredible celebration with you: BoobyBall’s Planet Booby. I hope to see you there!

PLANET BOOBY crashes into Ottawa for the first time on Friday, November 13, 2015 to raise funds for Rethink Breast Cancer; an out-of-this-world event to wake the inner-alien in all.

The Cause
Rethink Breast Cancer’s mission is to empower young people worldwide who are concerned about and affected by breast cancer. Rethink is the first ever Canadian charity to bring bold, relevant awareness to the 40s and under crowd; foster a new generation of young and influential breast cancer supporters; infuse sass and style into the cause; and, most importantly, respond to the unique needs of young women going through it.  By taking a breakthrough approach to all aspects of breast cancer – education, resources, advocacy, community building, and fundraising – Rethink is thinking differently about breast cancer.

This year’s goal is to raise $50,000, with proceeds going to support the expansion of Rethink’s innovative programs for young women who are living with and affected by breast cancer.

I love the breath of fresh air that Rethink Cancer brings to the table. It’s not about pink pots and pans, it’s about staying creative and engaging a new generation of women and men to take a stance in their health.

The Event
Boobyball was launched in 2002 by a group of dedicated young women in support of their friend Sarah O’Regan who, at just 23 years old, was diagnosed with aggressive, advanced breast cancer. Fast forward 14 years, and Boobyball is now one of the most coveted and high profile fundraising events for young philanthropists in Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa and Winnipeg, and Sarah is a thriving mother of three.

“Over the past decade, Boobyball has raised over $3.4 million dollars for our work for young women with breast cancer. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of all the people who come out every year,” says MJ DeCoteau, Executive Director, Rethink Breast Cancer. “A lot of Boobyball’s success is due to the fun and creative themes that we come up with every year. Planet Booby will be no exception – it will be out of this world!”

A glimpse of the galactic happenings at Planet Booby:

The Fashion

Okay, so you have your ticket, and now… what do you wear? When I think Aliens/Spaceman/Gallaxy takeover, my mind gravitates to mod and retro glam. Here are some of my favourite 60’s inspired sci-fi fashion looks.

When it comes to textures, think of leather, pleather, patent leather, sequin, metallic and even vinyl. Most importantly, make sure you have fun and remember that it’s all going towards a great cause!

And now, a good old fashion tune to conclude this message. Ironically, Bif Naked is a Breast Cancer survivor, so this pretty much closes the loop quite nicely.

Fall Fashion 2015 Trends with Addition Elle

Chantal Sarkisian Mode Xlusive Ottawa Plus-Size Fashion Blogger CTV Morning Live

I can’t believe it’s all over. Weeks, days and hours of prepping and pulling clothes, all for my 4 minutes of fame. And I loved every second of it! I had the opportunity to style for a CTV Morning Live segment on Fall Fashion trends with Addition Elle. You can watch it here.

My overall approach with styling for this fall is to choose clothing items that are versatile, warm and comfortable. Everything in your wardrobe should be appropriate for work or play. And when you’re shopping, make sure you chose lots of great pieces that you can mix and match.

Fall Fashion Trends 2015:
Accessories- large coats, floppy felt hat, ankle booties
Colours- burgundy, forest green, grey, black
Textures- wool, quilt, leather, viscose, distressed denim
Styles- edgy, layering

Addition Elle really made my job easy. They have such an impressive selection of clothes that comes in size 12 to 24. Their looks are on trend, affordable and all of the pieces go really well together. I didn’t realize that Addition Elle also carries a ton of accessories and shoes (Bonus!!)! Everything is well thought out and designed for larger women. Shoes have more room, bracelets are larger… it’s the little things that make a huge difference.

Here are my five looks:

Slow clap… Canada is getting DSW. Correction, Ottawa is getting a Designer Shoe Warehouse! And, I can’t believe it. The store is set to open in the Spring of 2016at the Train Yards mall.

About DSW

Town Shoes Limited opened the first 2 Canadian DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse locations in 2014. DSW is the destination for
shoe shoppers looking for fabulous brands at a great value every single day. With thousands of shoes for women and men, DSW is
all about the thrill of finding the perfect shoe at the perfect price. A huge assortment of handbags and accessories adds to the
breathtaking assortment DSW is known for.

DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse. Designer Shoes. Warehouse Prices.

I discovered DSW on my first trip to New York City almost 6 years ago. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I bought 3 pairs of boots (one of which I am still wearing til this day) and my Michael Kors pumps seen in this picture. A lot of damage has been made!

I am looking forward to monitoring the progress of the opening and will be sure to report any news to you!

PR Event: Shepherd’s Fashion Show with Lynn Spence

Shepherd’s Fashion in Ottawa was hosting their Fall Fashion Week, and I attended their event on Friday, October 2. WOW! A combination of food, decor, fashion and gorgeous women looking their best. I love that about interior designers, they pay attention to detail in all facets of their life, not just interior design. They always look amazing and have great clothes! BONUS!

So naturally, I gravitated to this lovely giant tier tray adorned with champagne flutes. Yup, I love champagne. I also love that this store has a catwalk built into it!! How smart is that?! Gorgeous models strutted their fall looks down the curvy lane, while women shopped until they dropped!

The particularly fascinating component of this event was meeting the interior designers who decorated the newly expanded VIP dressing rooms at the Train yards location. What a wonderful concept! I wish I could have caught some better shots of the rooms, but i don’t have the right lens, and I am an amateur photographer! You will have to go see it for yourselves!

And last, but not least, I met Lynn Spence, noted Canadian Stylist on Cityline from Toronto. If you grew up in Toronto, like me, Fashion experts like Lynn and Jeanne Beker are part of your family, they are your teachers, your mentors. Everything we know about Canadian Fashion is because of these women.

I hope you enjoy the pictures. Head over to Shepherd’s, you’ll be glad you did!
