I found Erin Coleman of Capital City Curves on Instagram looking for fellow curvy babes in Ottawa. I liked her style, so I asked her a few questions.

What’s your passion for fashion?
To me fashion is wearable art. It should evoke interest and wonder in the people that view it. It should tell a story about who you are and what goes on inside your head. That being said, I don’t have just one style. It’s constantly changing just as I am as an individual. Sometimes vintage and quirky; sometimes modern and simple. If it catches my interest, I’ll give it a try. I also like to mix vintage pieces with modern outfits. It creates interest and usually starts a story with strangers.

What XLusive tip can you share?
Try it on! Don’t feed into the idea that “certain styles” are only for “certain body types”. We are in an era of body positivity! (FINALY). It’s time to break all the fashion rules. Wear horizontal stripes and loose or tight fitting pieces! Experiment. If you love it, try it, and don’t get discourage if the first one you try doesn’t work, keep trying things on!

This Glamorous Romper

img_0868

I’m so excited to finally wear my Glamorous romper! I purchased it at Vien Avec Moi, on Wellington West. It’s a warm sunny day today but just enough of a cool breeze to pull off small leather booties too (these ones are my 2 year old Nine West boots… Lots of wear on these bad boys) . I paired it with my new Wilfred Free black leather tassel bag from Aritzia, and Quay sunnies. I love the contrast between the dark warm leather and the light and airy Paisley romper. Very edgy.

Oh yes, you may have noticed that I chopped my hair off! I’m trying to go back to my natural dark blond hair. I have a few tiny highlights in the front and had a light pink toner put in all over. It’s a really soft look, and the color really comes out against the brick wall. I was told it will wash out after three or four washes. It’s an all-around pretty edgy look for me, something I’m still getting used to. But can we talk about my lipstick though? Vermillion Red liquid paint wash from Laura Mercier. It’s my third shade from the series! I just love it!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday weekend, I know I will!

Street Style Fashion Gifs

ottawa-sparks-street-fashion-gif-street-style-modexlusive-blogger-blog-yow-613-chansty-chantal-sarkisian-plus-size

This is just a little sneak peak of the Ottawa Street Style photoshoot I did last week with photographer Kristy Chapman, who is specializing in Street Style photography, particularly in teen and friendship photo sessions.

I loved her direction and how she was open to collaborate on ideas. As we were skimming through photos on her camera trying to get the right amount of people zooming by me, I said “You could make a gif with that!” and voila… this happened! It’s so cool. It’s like turning your photoshoot into a 3D experience. Look out world, no more deleting images, street syle fashion gifs are gonna be the next thing!

I can’t wait to share the photos from the shoot. I’ll be releasing them slowly. I also wanted to point out that the theme for this shoot was “Local”. In this photo, I am wearing a J Crew chambray top from AMHStyle, Toronto designer Rachel Sin Dolce Rose skirt, grey pumps by Enzo Angiolini purchased at Wolf and Zed and my Fendi bag is from a local luxury consignment service, Valamode. Now how is that for supporting Ottawa businesses! Not bad at all.

About Kristy Chapman Photography
Kristy is a natural light photographer based out of Barrhaven, Ontario. When she’s not chasing around her 3 year old son or watching Netflix marathons with her husband, she can be found behind a camera capturing life’s moments. Kristy’s clients will tell you that she’s super friendly and they love her energy and excitement. Images by Kristy are natural, full of emotion and let the subject’s personality shine. Using a lifestyle approach, Kristy is best known for her family, maternity and newborn portraits.

Proutfit: Darling Floral Dress

This is by far, my dress of the summer. I purchased it at Victoire, an Ottawa boutique, a few months early knowing that it would come in handy. I have worn it to two different weddings this summer, and hope to get some more mileage on it at work. It’s just so… Darling! Well, it is after all a Darling dress. It was from the same collection as this little number.

The floral details are crisp and bright. They hit the nail on this one. The bright colours and the cut of the dress are absolutely flattering on any skin tone. The pleated front of the skirt, including shallow pockets, offers a nice distraction and helps to hide my “post-pregnancy” pooch. The caps on the sleeves add a lovey structured but feminine touch. The skirt hits me just above the knee, which is the optimal spot on my legs, and helps to make me look tall and slender.

I paired the dress with some navy heels from Winners and my favourite silver Ela clutch, purchased on consignment in a Vancouver shop called Mine and Yours. I did my own up-do and had a really good makeup day. My Laura Mercier Paint Wash lipstick in ‘Fuchsia Mauve’ really tied it all together! My last accessory was my handsome date/husband/arm candy of the evening.

I have my 4th wedding of the summer in September, but I have another trick up my sleeve for this one, so stay tuned! Wholly weddings, Batman!!
