Michael’s 39th birthday was fast approaching, and I thought it would be fun to spend a romantic winter night at the new Hotel Le Germain Ottawa, located on Daly Avenue. I just got back from my Yoga retreat in Costa Rica the week before, and thought it would be a nice way to catch up and connect.
Whether you’re looking for something to do with the family on the Civic holiday long weekend or Labour Day long weekend, a road trip is always a good idea. A quick road trip to Montebello is an even better idea… and in a BMW X3 is probably THE BEST idea! I couldn’t find research to back this next statement, but sometimes I feel like tourists know more than locals when it comes to hotspots in a city. I mean, locals know where the everyday essentials are, but they don’t always go the extra mile, they tend not to explore close to home and don’t necessarily splurge on staycations. And if you’re too busy to get away for an entire weekend, consider what you can do in just 24 hours. Katie Hession (Yow City Style) and I were up for the challenge when Outaouais Tourism put together a decadent stay for us to experience 24-hours of R&R in Gatineau: Nordik Spa, Biscotti & Cie and The Wakefield Mill were on the agenda!
