Ottawa Street Style: Black and yellow

Every lady needs an LDB (a.k.a little black dress)!

It’s classic, versatile and flattering. I found this little gem and I absolutely love the way the full skirt gives an illusion of an hourglass waist. I adore the pockets too. I just wish the fabric around my waist was thicker, to make me look more svelte… you know what I mean?
I love combining this dark dress with a fun pop of yellow and subtle red, white and blue details of my wedges. This whole ensemble is great for a date or going out with the girls after work. Swap your work cardigan for a denim jacket and you have yourself a styled LBD for your next GNO (a.k.a. Girls night out!).

Florals and chambray

The mornings are getting cooler and I am craving my long sleeve shirts that were put away all summer.
It’s hard to believe that summer is officially coming to a close. But like every girl knows, a change in season means a change of clothes! I am both nervous and excited to finally get my fall wardrobe in gear. My recent weight loss and fitness journey has caused somewhat of a closet dilemma. Do I buy more clothes or get them tailored? #firstworldproblems #iambroke #toomuchclothes
Never the less, the days are getting shorter and our sleeves are getting longer.

This leads perfectly into a fashion segue, the chambray shirt. This lovely denim blouse officially made its appearance in the winter of 2014 and I hope it’s here to stay. Like its counterpart, the denim jacket, a chambray shirt can easily dress up a pair of slacks or dress down a fabulously feminine skirt. That beautiful balance of comfortable and classy with a touch of structure. I have a shirt in every shade!

Ottawa Street Style: Pink and Print

I’m wearing this dress to work today, and I always feel so vibrant in it! Loads of colour to distract those unflattering nooks and peaks. The side panels really give a nice hourglass illusion, which will work on any body type. I love wearing white and bright colours, but in this case the navy panels really tone down the dress making it wearable and work appropriate. The fabric is also light and stretchy, which makes it curvy girl approved!

Style Profile: Symone Peredur from The Polished Pretties

IMG_1521
I think this would be my “proutfit ” – XO Symone

This is Symone Peredur, one of two gals from The Polished Pretties. I like her style, so I asked her some questions.

What’s your passion for fashion? My passion for fashion started when I realized that being fashionable wasn’t exclusive to a certain type of look. As a petit curve I found it EXTREMELY difficult to find outfits that looked cute and fashionable at the same time , but as soon as I got the hang of it I realized that fashion allows me to be creative and express my personality in different ways that doesn’t limit me to my size or height and i just love that!

What XLusive tip can you share? An Xclusive fashion tip that I wish I knew when I started was learning how to pick key pieces ( I should have listened to my mom lol).
Key pieces for me are basic tanks, classic blazers and pretty jewelry. Staple pieces (these are usually pricey but so worth it ) and LOTS of dresses.
