Clarins skin care routine: a solution for dry skin in winter

News flash, I have dry skin. I know you guys are tired of me saying it, but such is life. If you suffer from dry skin during the winter months, which I am almost sure everyone does, you can understand why I am on a quest to trying every brand and every product out there! On this post, I get to share the many reasons why I love my new Clarins skin care routine and why it may be a great solution for your dry skin needs this winter! Step 1 Clarins Cleansing Milk With Alpine Herbs Normal Or Dry Skin • Clarins • $35

I’ll admit, I typically use liquid eye makeup remover because I am not much of a milk cleanser person. But I am an open minded one, so I gave the Clarins Cleasing Milk a try. I used a pea-size drop on a cotton pad, and needed two of theses to do my entire face. I wear full-face makeup and I liked how this broke down all the makeup. It wasn’t strong enough however to remove my waterproof mascara (although to be honest, I am struggling to find something that will!). Back to the cleanser. When I was done rinsing my face, I noticed that it was particularly soft and smooth, with a layer of moisture. I liked that feeling. Hint- this is first solution to dry skin problems: use a milk to cleanse!

Step 2 Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser For Dry Or Sensitive Skin • Clarins • $34

After removing my makeup, I double cleansed with the Foaming Cleanser, this one is specifically for dry skin. I am not used to seeing cleansers for different skin-types, but I assure you it makes the world of a difference. After I was done, my skin felt dewy and moisturized, not a typical feeling for me after cleansing. My face is usually tight, dry and flaky (a clear sign that I was not using the right product for my skin!). Hint- the second solution to dry skin is to use a cleanser specifically intended for dry skin.

On another note- does anyone else struggle to keep their bathroom dry after cleansing? SPLASH! This is a real problem for me.Clarins-skin-care-routine-dry-winter-Ottawa-Canada-beauty-blog-blogger-vlogger-Canadian-foaming-cleanser

Step 3 Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum • Clarins • $59

I have an unhealthy obsession with serums, so of course I will rave about this product. First off, the smell of the Hydra-Essentiel line is divine. A fresh, almost watery scent. Most serums have a gel-like finish to them, but this serum formula is a bit runny and needs to be shaken before you use it. But because it’s very thin, I find it absorbs in the skin quite nicely.

Step 4 Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream – Normal to Dry Skin • Clarins • $48

Oh, I love the velvety smooth texture of this face cream, and as I mentioned above, the fresh scent. Scent is important to me in my skin care because it’s a form of aromatherapy. I like how it calms me. This formula is light and fluffy, not too oily or rich but still very moisturizing. That’s what I look for in a face cream.

Hint- the third solution for dry skin is layering your skincare, start with serum, then face cream!

Step 5 Clarins Multi-Active Eye • Clarins • $45

I am not into gimmicks and will never claim that products reduce fine lines, or remove wrinkles, which is why I struggle to review eye creams in general. I just know that we all need it, because you shouldn’t use thick creams under the eye since the skin is thin, absorbent and sensitive.  I have a lot of texture under my eyes, I find that the cool metal ball technology feels amazing under the eye and helps to smoothen things out, even if only for a few minutes. I love using this eye cream, especially right before I apply my foundation or under-eye concealer.

Step 6 Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil • Clarins • $25

Let’s not forget about the lips! These instant light comfort oils are the reason I was drawn to Clarins in the first place. They are a cult favourite and I understand why. They are lightly tinted with a hint of flavour, I received Honey (yellow) and Mint (blue). I love the thick but not sticky formula and how the products shines on your lips. Hint- these moisture locking oils are definitely what your dry lips are craving this winter!
