Almost Famous: What I wore to the JUNOs from Place D’Orleans

The 2017 Juno Awards came to a close a few weeks ago, and I am still feeling the buzz. I couldn’t be happier to take part in the action and I am so blessed to have partnered with Place D’Orleans for the entire campaign.

On March 3rd, I presented a fashion TV segment “Dress like a JUNOs star with Place D’Orleans” on CTV Morning Live and that day, launched a contest on my Instagram account to win 2 tickets to the Junos, two $100 gift cards to Place D’Orleans and two VIP gift cards at Hai Republic for the lucky winners!

This is Vero and Jaqueline, the winners of the contest! They got floor tickets! They also look amazing in their new Place D’Orleans get up and Hair Republic makeovers!

What I wore to the JUNOs

When I put my outfit together at Place D’Orleans, I was going for a ‘Rockstar Journalist’ style. The leather jacket, bell-bottom cutoff jeans and embroidered guitar strap bag were definitely key elements to nailing this look. Albeit I didn’t get to interview any artists, or meet any in person, seeing them walk by in the media space was a pretty surreal experience.

It sounds silly, but I didn’t take any pictures of the celebrities I saw, because you have to keep your cool in the media room. It’s an unspoken rule, you know? I saw the Trudeaus, Brian Adams, Billy Talent, Marianna’s Trench and a whole bunch of E! Talk folks.

Regardless of this being a red carpet event, musicians always stay true to their style and opt for a practical yet glam look on stage and on the carpet. I used that philosophy to inspire my look. Being a blogger behind-the-scenes at events can seem glamorous, but it’s a lot of work and there is lots of running around, so I wanted to be comfortable and stylish. I got my entire look from Hudson’s Bay at Place D’Orleans.

My hair was coloured and cut at Hair Republic, where I quickly ran into the girls getting ready!

Dress like a JUNOs Star with Place D’Orleans + Giveaway

On March 3, I presented a TV segment on CTV Morning Live “Dress like a JUNOs star with Place D’Orleans” (scroll below for full video clip). I promised to showcase all the looks of each nominee on the blog and tell you where I got everything from, so here it is- Junos style with Place D’Orleans! Disclaimer, this is a LONG post, but worth the read. I have detailed shots of all the looks, an amazing contest and much more. SO grab your beverage of choice and a cozy spot on the couch and keep reading.

How excited are you for the 46th Annual Juno Awards happening in Ottawa on April 2, 2017? I know I am! Some of my favourite Canadian artists have been nominated this year; Drake, the Weeknd, and Justin Bieber… yes, don’t judge me. What I love about the Junos, is how accessible it is to everyone, literally you can buy your tickets to the Junos online and join the party! I am told to get there early and secure a spot on the red carpet to watch over 200 artists walking in!

#PDOBlackFriday: How to shop Black Friday sales at Place D’Orleans

I’m just coming down from the thrills of hosting my first ever Facebook Live event, I’ve done lots on my own page, but nothing of this scale. We had a few technical glitches, but tonight we filmed a segment for Place D’Orleans‘ Black Friday deals and it was a blast! I was joined by two Ottawa bloggers, Ashley and Coralie who also presented some of their favourite steals that were under $50 at Place D’Orleans!

PS- the secret password tomorrow at Guest Services is “PDOBlackFriday”. If you’re one of the first 10 people to arrive, you can get a $50 gift card!

For once in my life, I focused on gifts that I could get my husband, instead of things that I like for myself (selfish much? Not today!). Some of the deals are insane, like these leather Aldo loafers for $35, or this men’s shaving and skincare kit from The Body Shop for $33. These polkadot men’s socks from MoxyMaus were also a perfect complement to the loafers!

I found this red waffle shirt and fun pjs bottoms from Eddie Bauer. This is basically my husbands bedtime uniform, I can’t believe they had it in stock!

Although this gorgeous blanket from the Bay is not under $50, I promise you the candle and books are! Bath and Body Works has a “buy 3 get 3 free” promo tomorrow on their scented candles. I am partial to fresh Christmas scents like Balsam Fir or masculine ones like Amber Mahogany ( you may also hear me referring to this scent as handsome man! haha). In addition, Wayne Gretzky’s “Story of the Game” and Mike Myers’ “Canada” books are only $15 each at Coles! Again, these books are right up my husbands alley- he loves all things Canadiana.

He may not need a coat, but this $50 winter jacket by Mountain Warehouse is just too good to pass up. You can’t buy a winter coat for under $50, it’s just unheard of. If you donate to the snowsuit fund, this shop would be a perfect place to stock up on good quality suits for a great price.

What I wore

The outfit I wore tonight was all purchased at H&M! I love the H&M inside Place D’Orleans, it’s got a great selection and it’s huge too! Tomorrow H&M has crazy deals (like $7 for the pants I’m wearing) and their main focus will be featuring all black fashion for Black Friday!

Other favourite shops at Place D’Orleans

I mean, there are a million stores I could name, but some of my favourite shops include The Bay, Forever 21 RED, Le Chateau, Reitmans, Dynamite, Soft Moc, Footlocker, Watch it, Sunglass Hut, and Mrs. Tiggy Winkle’s for my son Victor!

In case you missed it, you can watch the entire Facebook Live video here!

A big thank you to Place D’Orleans, for supporting this post! It’s been awesome to work with you!

#OttawaStyle Update: New shops and designer stores in Ottawa

It’s no surprise that the Ottawa Fashion scene is experiencing a renaissance like no other. Almost every mall is under construction with major renovations ahead. There is no need to cross the border; the US or Quebec’s for that matter. Ottawa shopping has changed, and so should your routine!

I pulled together a handful of new shops that have opened up, and some that will soon!

New stores in Ottawa to visit

  • Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) in Trainyards. The one-destination for all your shoe shopping needs.
  • Fifth Avenue OFF FIFTH at Tanger Outlets. A mini department store offering a mix of contemporary and high end brands… but at a fraction of the price!
  • Hudson’s Bay next to the Rideau centre has done a massive overhaul. They have recently opened Ottawa’s first Topshop and Topman. This #LONDSTYLE inspired brand provides a nice variety of trendy pieces at a mid price range.

Coming soon

  • Simons will be opening their second store in the area, inside Rideau Centre sometime this summer (August 2016)
  • Ted Baker London in the Rideau Centre

New in Ottawa Plus-size fashion
