Who would have ever predicted that athletic wear would become a fashion trend? Thank goodness the fashion gods have blessed us with Athleisure! I am more than happy to wear cushioned running shoes and leggings for the sake of style, I know my feet and legs are thanking me. Today’s post is all about Athleisure for curvy women, and I have partnered with Addition Elle to bring you the latest and greatest they have to offer this season. It’s been difficult to find really supportive workout clothes that come in larger sizes, and I am extremely grateful that Addition Elle has us covered!
Have you seen them? #NordstromOTT has been blasting photos all over social media, and we, 7 Ottawa Fashion Bloggers, were lucky to take part it in all!

A few cold weeks ago, Nordstrom Ottawa organized a lovely Sunday morning complete with food, fashion, a flower wall and lots of photos! They greeted us with open arms, fed our bellys until we were full, beautified our faces and graciously draped us in the most wonderful clothes and accessories. Even though I did not get to keep my outfit, the chance to walk around and say “pass me those Karen Walker sunglasses” and “oh, that Chloe bag will work” and “I’ll get those Manolos in a size 9 please”… was enough of a remarkable experience.
I love when brands go the extra mile to make you feel special. My dressing room had everything waiting for me, and all in my size! Can you image? I had a quick chat with my stylist and BAM! it was gorgeously laid out for me with matching shoes too! A girly-girl’s dream come true!
According to Wikipedia “the French word, Mule, is a style of shoe that is backless and often closed-toed. Mules can be any heel height – from flat to high.”
My main goal this spring, was to get my hands on the perfect neutral pair. Something that would go with any outfit, something comfortable that I can actually wear all day and not regret it as soon as I am in the car! Before we dig in further, let’s start with a little fashion history lesson. These are always my favourite.
OK, this description seems a little bit dramatic, although what history lesson isn’t. I can’t imagine a woman wearing these heels be considered a prostitute. Let me guess… I bet a man was involved in either writing that description and coming up with that garbage.
Anyway, before I get on my feminist horse, I wanted to show you what I’ll be wearing soon (but first, please cross your fingers for this April snow to melt away). So here they are folks my new Emu Australia mules, this is the “Burleigh” style in Mushroom colour.
I purposely went for something neutral in tone to not only elongate the leg, but to offer versatility. With the popularity of the boho style making a comeback this summer, I’m sure I’ll get lots of wear out of them!
