I got THE email, you know the one. The one you sit around waiting for, the one you think will change your career.
A few months ago, Alexandra Gunn, fashion editor of Ottawa Life Magazine, asked if I would take part in her #OttawaStyle series, where they would be photographing and featuring local fashion bloggers in Ottawa at the Andaz Hotel. DUH- Of course, I said yes, and immediately starting panicking… WHAT WILL I WEAR? After a few deep breaths, I reminded myself that I need to be me, and wear something that my readers would recognize me in! My signature style.
The first thing I thought was to show off my best asset: show leg, show leg!! So, I opted for my favourite leather skirt from Vincent, which worked nicely with my bell sleeve blouse from Forever 21. I finished the look with my favourite red suede l’Intervalle mules and my secret weapon… the security vest! For my second look, I wore a Peter Pan collar dress from the Bay, my blue suede l’Intervalle booties and my pink wool coat from Old Navy. I called it “the London look”. It was perfect for that rainy day!
The hardest part of this exercise was styling January fashion in October. Nothing made sense to me at the time. I was still holding on to Fall for dear life. Actually, retract my last statement. The hardest part of this was waking up super early in the morning, after attending Boobyball the night before! Pas une bonne idée!
The whole day was so much fun! Valerie, our photographer was a pleasure to work with and only had our best interest in mind. That’s why the photos turned out great. The print issue finally came out on January 18, 2017 and each blogger had an in-depth interview online and video highlighting their interpretation of #OttawaStyle.
Enjoy the pics!
