I’m allowed a cheat day once in a while, whether it’s adding a few extra calories to my day or ditching a home cooked meal for take-out. It’s all about moderation right? Who’s with me?
Yesterday, we celebrated Family Day with a regal McDonald’s breakfast at home, flowers and all. Michael and I had a busy weekend in Montreal and I wanted to make this day was special for Victor. Also, I really didn’t feel like cooking. So, I woke up extra early to set the table and get ready for the day.
My heart wanted to sleep in and have brunch instead of breakfast, but I knew I had to rush over to McDonald’s before 11:00 a.m. to get our food and make it all happen. You know exactly what I am talking about, the race against the Mickey Ds clock. “Sorry, it’s 11:01 a.m., we just stopped serving breakfast.” says the girl behind the counter.
I have some good news for you, though. The dreaded race is over. Starting today, February 21, 2017, participating McDonald’s restaurants across Canada are serving up breakfast … All Day. Every Day.
McDonald’s all-day breakfast menu
So what’s available? Although McDonald’s has recently come out with a huge selection of customizable menu options, only the traditional breakfast items made the cut. To celebrate the occasion, we decided to stick to the 24-hour breakfast menu for our Family Day breakfast yesterday.
Here is what’s on the McDonald’s 24-hour breakfast menu:
- Egg McMuffin (for Michael)
- Bacon ‘n Egg McMuffin (for me!)
- Sausage ‘n Egg McMuffin (for Victor)
- Sausage McMuffin
- Hashbrown
- Hotcakes
I personally love eggs, and eat a lot of them. I admire that McDonald’s uses a large freshly-cracked Canada grade A egg in each of their sandwiches. Now that these menu items will be completely integrated into the classic lunch and dinner menu, I can mix and match my order and create a healthier meal for myself when I am on the go (a.k.a ALWAYS!!).
McCafé- Free Coffee is back!
I find it funny that Michael and I drink our coffee the same way. We are big fans of McCafé coffee and usually order the premium roast with two milks, or he orders one for himself and I just drink it all!
Because his work is steps away from McDonald’s, sometimes we will meet up for a treat on his weekend shifts. He bonds with Victor, while I login into the free wifi and surf Instagram. And, because he works close by, he quickly flies through their rewards program too (buy 7 get one free).
McDonald’s coffee is a quality medium dark roast made from 100 percent Arabica beans and McCafé serves up a variety of hot and cold customizable drinks, at a great price. If you haven’t ever tasted it, I highly recommend giving it a try during their free coffee blitz next week.
Between Monday, February 27 and March 5, you can pop into any participating McDonald’s restaurant in Canada for a FREE small cup of hot brewed coffee at absolutely no charge — any time of the day — no purchase necessary!
Bon appétit- I hope you get to take advantage of the convenience of McDonald’s all-day breakfast soon!
Thank you to McDonald’s Canada for partnering with me and sponsoring this post.
The beautiful flowers on my table were gifted from Satin & Snow‘s new #BloomsInABag service.
