The suite family life: our stay at the Ottawa Embassy Hotel

I was set to host my family who was visiting from Toronto and Kingston, and my plans got derailed when we discovered water leaking into our basement a few weeks ago (yes- renos coming soon!) Now that I turned my guestroom into my Youtube recording studio and the basement was a no-go… I had no space at home for the family.

Luckily, I remembered that I hadn’t cashed in my media stay with the newly renovated Ottawa Embassy Hotel & Suites, just steps away from Ottawa City Hall. When we got the hotel tour, I recall noting that the suites had a convenient kitchenette, spacious living area and closed off bedrooms. I knew it was the perfect setting to host my family- my mom, my sister, my niece and my nephew. We needed a lot of beds and we got them!

Other than the convenience of the sleeping arrangements of the suite, we loved being so close to City Hall and the canal. During the day, we took the kids out for a skate at the Sens rink of dreams, went for a walk downtown and even made our way to Rideau Centre.

Even though Elgin Street is under construction, we were able to walk to nearby restaurants very easily. We also took advantge of the free weekend parking at City Hall!

For meals, we had lunch in our room and had dinner on Elgin Street at Jonny Farinas and Clocktower pub. We opted to have breakfast at Coopers Gastropub, the new restaurant located inside the Embassy Hotel.

Thanks again to Blackbook Lifestyle for making the arrangements on such short notice and thank you to the Embassy Suites Hotel for hosting our (loud/chaotic/crazy… but awesome!) family.

Don’t forget to support the businesses on Elgin Street during construction! Despite the closed off roads, it’s very walkable, so leave the car at home.
